after an impressive debut with thugfuckers >disco gnome<, life and death returns for round two as it once again gives us its slightly psychedelic after-hours take on dance pop. here it s with a remix ep that features two stellar remixes of danish band whomadewho. the first remix comes from tale of us, the young italian duo who were quickly recognized for their incredible remix of disco gnome and who are already being recognized as one of the most promising new electronic acts to come out of italy in the last 5 years. the second remix comes from michael meyer, a pillar of dance music and an outstanding producer who truly needs no introduction. with a dreamy voice and haunting melodies that creep into your brain and stay there until well after the lights have come back up, >every minute alone< seems set to establish the new label as strong voice leading the charge into new territories along the borderline of dance and pop.
strait out of bass camp, vicious audio begins its assault with a massive single by triage. two big tunes carved with the signature sound that has brought the group to the front lines of battle. drawing inspiration from their drum and bass roots, >comorbid< is a nice roller stabbing you with snares and punching you with bass. if you survive this, the evil flip side >play dead< will slap you around with some heavy, twisted, subsonic madness.
eclectic avenue records keep up their high standard of artists and bring in rob mello to remix one of the most talked about producers of the moment - the dead rose music company.

today, krikors musical style has become more hybrid than ever, a personal synthesis of his musical obsessions : the fat groove and old drum machines of chicago house, the abstract sounds of minimal techno, the urge and energy of rock(abilly), the harshness of industrial music, the dark romantism of folk anti-heroes from the 60s and the forward thinking of grm lab rats (pierre schaeffer, pierre henry..). the result of this synthesis is a first album >land of truth< at last, after 10 years of waiting. its an intimate and ambitious album, bitter and sweet. 11 cinematic songs featuring the voices of krikor himself and also nicolas ker (from poni hoax) on >god will break it all< and >dogs on trial<, chloe (the french dj) on >everything fades< and chloe (the english punkette of battant) on >the times<.

ironic? no, its dead serious: sally shapiro keeps on dreaming of barbie and ken. sometimes good things come to those who wait, as is the case with sally shapiro. one shouldnt really imagine the bashful swede from göteborg, who never performs live, setting a new trend for turning down lucrative offers. and the thought that she is working on something hip, is most likely even a little eerie for her. after all, she s just into something, which shes been doing since her childhood in the 1980s singing songs in the style of her idol sandra (maria magdalena). if she hadnt met her companion johan agebjörn, who despite his musical socialization with techno in the 1990s has been deep into italo disco for the past few years and is a collector of zyx records, sallys passion for synthi songs and fairy-like female vocals would have remained private. however, johan was screwing together some italo-style songs when he asked sally (whose voice hed only heard from a previous christmas party karaoke) if she would improvise on his soft keyboard tunes, their collaboration was a done deal.
subsequent to their first releases on the labels diskokaine and permanent vacation, sally shapiro suddenly found herself in the midst of the ultra-hip neo/italo-disco movement, which is especially big in scandinavia. why of all things on the northern peninsula, where one traditionally listens to black metal and indie rock played with legs spread apart, the peculiar, yet sunny disco music became such an export hit, stays one of the mysteries of the pop business. its a fact, though, that next to internationally celebrated norwegian neodisco-heroes lindström, prins thomas and todd terje, the lovely sally has become the scandinavian disco-act in the mean time.
the return of the label, finally after a few month under the radar... dlid / dick laurent is dead is one of the four members who hide behind the band electroluxe family. they recently appeared in the famous french music magazine les inrockuptibles, as one of the 9 favorites newcomers for the year 2009! discovision merge perfectly pop rock and dance music. with his memorable riff, his catchy pop punk vocals and his pounding beat, dlid made a first class pop dance recipe, this one is certainly going to be stuck in your head.
on rodz konez #7 steve bailey teams up with himself when his alter ego makaton meets his alias lift syndrome. side a is dedicated to straight forward techno, while the flip is up to electroid experimentations.

!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! (richie hawtin on voices of the dead) record release event at berghain / panorama bar berlin on september 4th, 2008, feat. ricardo villalobos, mika vainio (pan sonic) and ulrich schnauss (tbc).
lo key fu makes his dead famous debut with a belter of a twelve inch. funky/tech is the order of the day here with both sides featuring chopped up female vocals and live instruments alongside squelching synths!
